Why Good Salesmen Have Fat Children

Have you ever wondered why some salesmen have fat children while others have pencil-neck children?
The big difference is the one with fat children knows that to make a sale you have to sell the need!
While the salesmen with pencil kneck children are still trying to sell the product.
Why this is important
Selling the need seems super simple on paper but in reality, only a few companies do this.
For example, if you were asked to “sell a pen” instantly you would start talking about that pen.
Instead, you have two options, either supply and demand or selling the dream.
An example of selling supply and demand would be “Please write your name and date of birth for a $1 million check” and since that person doesn't have a pen they will pay anything for it.
An example of selling the dream is “with this pen, you can start writing down business ideas which could lead to getting you and your family out of the matrix.”
Notice the difference?
Could you see how much more engaging it is when you sell the need instead of what the pen is made of?
Since you describe a dream it helps people make a mental image of them doing the things that you are describing.
Therefore it increases the FOMO (Fear of missing out) that these customers have and makes them WANT your product.
